Why I recommend this place to locals — 2 years ago
Worth visiting!
The food is not good. It’s like Denny’s with extra syrup. But it’s a strange place where you’re highly likely to leave with a human interest story overheard from a patron or server that could not have been gleaned from the ever expanding foodie joints on Cap Hill. This is where the hidden people go. And sometimes a cup of hot Lipton tea with an iced creamer pak served in a chipped brown mug is where it’s at. I do suggest the pancakes if you eat here and not much else (scrambled eggs and toast is acceptable).
If any of this rambling makes sense to you then you’ll probably enjoy The Varsity Inn. If I had to choose one in a divorce it would definitely be The Varsity Inn.
