John Wayne Airport aka: SNA

Every time I have landed at this Airport are oxygen mask have dropped out cause the force of hitting the ground was so hard.

And that is a key point in its favor. Beyond that, there’s not much to say about it, it’s kinda big and cavernous and…dull. But again, it gets you out of OC, and that’s very important.

Even for a small airport, this one really sucks. Use only if absolutely convenient. I think the most adventurous food option here is a chain cinnamon bun place. Far worse than Oakland airport, which is really saying something.

The only fun thing about this airport is taking off in the airplane itself. See, because of the neighbors in Balboa that complained about their property values going down (yeah, right) because of airplane noise, planes have to take off at a steep angle, which makes the experience a little more interesting, especially if you have a little ball to place in the aisle just as it happens. That moment when the engines turn off to avoid noise over Balboa gives you a split-second OMG We Just Lost Power feeling, which — if prepared — is kinda cool.

On the down side, landing here is about as scary as landing in San Diego airport. It always feels like you’re in a car hitting the brakes to avoid smashing into a herd of deer. Not fun.
