The Greenbrier

I spent a few nights at The Greenbrier most recently in November and had an excellent time! The hotel itself has a lower level full of gift shops where you can buy diamonds, pearls, golf gear, Lacoste shirts, shoes, as well as typical gift-shop things. There is an amazing chocolate shop as well!

The restaurants range from a formal dining room on the hotel’s main floor, to a light and airy breakfast-and-lunch place on the same level as the gift stores. There is also a golf-theme restaurant at the resort. None of the restaurants are terribly casual, though.

The rooms are spacious and outrageously decorated. The rooms I’ve stayed in have all had huge floral print wallpaper with either bedcoverings or upholstery to match. The hotel has a turn down service, complete with mints. (The toiletries provided are delightful and varied!)

While at the resory, you can choose to learn about falconry, go golfing, go horseback riding, take a carriage ride, or browse the many artisan shops located within walking distance. I would also recommend hiking in the nearby hills.
