Minneapolis Institute Of Arts

The Minneapolis Institute of Arts is a treasure trove of art from ages past and places near and far.

When you visit this museum, give yourself a LOT of time. The collection is vast, and you may well find yourself spending your whole day inside.

Back when I lived in Minneapolis, I would only plan to see one collection or gallery each day. My favorite visit was the Asian galleries, and specifically the massive jade boulder that was sculpted into a village scene. I could quite honestly stare at it for hours.

I live a few steps across the street from the MIA. I never get tired of it :)

I think there is something very exciting about the MIA…but you’ll have to see if that something is there for you! The audio tour is fun if you have some time to devote to learning the stories behind the art.

This is a fantastic art museum. It is well laid out, and the collection is incredible. There are three very large floors of art. I was there for three hours, and I have probably only made it through a quarter of the collection. I was very impressed. Check out the website to get a taste of everything they have.
