...but with definite highs and lows! If I had to choose again, I probably wouldn’t pick this region – I chose it because it was fairly easy to travel around by public transport but it will be a long time before I go back; there are so many other regions of France I would rather visit.

Highlights:

• The colour of the water
• Marseille and the Calanques
• Musee Matisse, Nice

Lows:

• Monte Carlo
• Most of Nice

Visited Cannes, Nice, Eze, St. Paul de Vence, drove through Monaco. A bit of a disappointment. More city-ish than I imagined. Loads of traffic, and for me, considerably less charm than other parts of France.
