    Worth visiting!

A pool of serenity in the midst of the hustle and din of a major downtown area. When my children were young it was a favorite place to go (for free!!) for a walk and an adventure. It was closed for a couple of years but has recently reopened and is a must visit for any weary traveler in need of a breather and a sit down in cow town! Peace.

Walking down into the large fountain (I forget the name – the one featured in Logan’s Run) is like walking into another world or dimension. You descend into this strange center of stillness, completely surrounded by rushing water that blocks out all other sound… add to that the fact that the steps you take down into the foutain are huge, “giant” steps, and it’s a very disorienting experience – it’s at once magical and terrifying, if you let yourself really get in to the moment. I know someone who did this at night during the full moon – she said that definitely added to the experience!

    HOWEVER:

This is NOT a place you can go swimming. A few years ago, some people lost their lives by ignoring the no swimming signs. Don’t swim or wade there if you go, please.

If you’re in Fort Worth, stop into the Water Gardens.

It’s easily 20 degrees cooler in there than the surrounding blocks in the summer, and the architecture and water design is really gorgeous.
