It’s frustrating that only 2 Chinese restaurants made it to the “101 best NYC restaurants” list. It’s even more frustrating that I’ve only been to half of that… Even though Manhattan’s Chinatown sucks in terms of dim sum, I decided to give this one a try… and I brought along a dim sum-snobbish friend who claimed his school cafeteria in HK serves better dim sum than any NYC restaurants.

I saw the huge NY Mag cover, and found the place. It was clean and the waiters were not rude, both by Chinatown standard, and we sort of understood why it was on the list.

The food was not bad comparing with other places in Manhattan, but far from mouth-watering. My friend didn’t bring up his school cafe and agreed to come back again.

I would recommend it if you’re craving dim sum and Brooklyn and Queens are not your thing. Otherwise, try
World Tong in Brooklyn

or those extremely crowded places in Flushing. More variety and better tasting.
