Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Co.

No reservations, cash only and the place is hopping but the food is oh-so-good. Portions are outrageous. We shared the Mediterranean bread – pita covered with oil and spices and cheese plus a Greek salad and an anipasto and I could not imagine that we all still had main dishes yet to arrive.

The pizza itself comes in half pound or pound size and you don’t get to choose your “toppings”. The whole thing is in a bowl with the crust on top. The waitress unmolds it at the table – dramatic. I have some pix I will try to post when I am home next.

I got a piece of pizza the size of my head! Just around the corner from Improv Olympic, and right next to the El. And they’ve got pieces of pizza the size of my head!

...except it’s not exactly pizza. They call it a pizza pot pie, and it’s sort of an upside-down pizza.
