De Dutch Pannekoek House
Worth visiting!
A review of this place: Peaches and cream!
I go regularly for a pancake fix. I love the consistancy of the Pannekoek. It’s a crepe like, moist, little bit sweet, buckwheat, creamy milk flavour to the Pannekoek. It’s huge – huge I tell you. 115 one inch bites if you want to know the actual math facts. My favourite is the Peaches and cream, my niece loves the chocolate chip. I rarely vary from the Pannekoek, but then hey, that’s why I go there.
This is an indulgent pancake fix. Yummy

Ambivalent
So, it’s hard with such a binary choice to say worth it or not. I have oft laughed and pointed at “De Dutch”—it’s such a cheesy concept. The one broadway is also hidden in a small office park on the second floor.
Today, Kate and I decided to try it. It was….not bad. There aren’t many breakfast choices right close to us (other than the always good Caffe Barney, which is also always packed).
Kate had this pancake with strange ham-like bacon and Dutch syrup, or “Stroop”. She was actually looking forward to a nice pancake with bacon on the side, and more “traditional” syrup, so she was a bit disappointed. I tried some, and I liked the less-sweet stroop, as well as the meaty goodness. A kind of pancake that I actually kind of like.
Note: the coffee IS bad, but the fresh juice is great. Skip the coffee and grab one from Bean around the World afterwards.
