El Charro

Each time we go back to tyler texas where we lived for many years we always stop in at El Charro’s on East Erwin. I have never had a better margarita in my entire life and I’m 62.
The Summer Plate is cheap and fantastic. The service is fast and with a smile. It is always packed with people but you never have to wait for a table. It’s family owned and we just love it.

It is relatively well priced, well-presented, and in a convenient location.
Food is good, and as I remember, free ice cream.
It didn’t really stand out in my mind, however.

Notable Mexican restaurants in Tyler (some of the best in Texas, IMHO), in order of price (though not necessarily value):

Pico de Gallo
Don Juan’s (on the square)
Taqueria El Lugar (on Golden Road)

All of these offer authentic and innovative dishes, great atmosphere, and good service.

Some of the best mexican food in texas, if you’re in tyler, go there for sure.
