Piazza della Signoria

It’s nice to walk around and look at all the statues while the tourists mill by and the local art students sit around and sketch things.

It’s worth checking out the copy of the David if you want photos, since there’s none allowed in the Accademia where the original is kept. Not to mention that seeing the real David after seeing the weathered one in the square makes you appreciate the marble its constructed from that much more.

Bandinelli’s Hercules and Cacus is also worth seeing, as is Rape of the Sabine Women by Giambologna, which is stunning from any angle.

this was one of my favorite things in firenze, the statues are amazing and after the crowds settle down its a really nice piazza

This is a wonderful broad piazza in front of the Uffizi Gallery. It gives you the chance to take some up close and personal photos of replicas of some famous statues.

Here you find the replicas of the famous statue, including David from Michaelangelo. We didn’t have time to visit Uffizi, so we visited him there.
