Bocca della Verità

True — it is a touristy thing to do. But I think the best thing about going to see the Bocca della Verita is that you have to walk past Piazza di Bocca della Verita on the way and there ware two lovely little temples there that are worth seeing. And if you are really energetic, you can start in Trastevere and get to Bocca della Verita by walking across the river, which is fun, as well.

nothing interesting, and you have to wait in line just to look at it (and the traditional putting your hand in the mouth and taking a shot)

the attraction is more for the kitsch than the history, but we went in the off-season so no one was there… actually, we had trouble finding it. but it was a nice out-of-the-way thing to do.

I stood in a really long line that took at least 20 minutes just to chance the fates with the Mouth of Truth. My hand is still in tact. I have a couple of pictures. I lived my Roman Holiday. It is only worth it if you are near the Roman Forum. Do Not make a special trip.
