The Temples in the Mouth of Truth Square by FlyGirl
There are two beautiful little temples and a cool fountain in this Piazza. The church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, site of the Bocca della Verità, faces out onto this piazza. The two temples are to Portunas and Hercules Victor, who were, respectively, the god of livestock and the god of olives. This is relevant because these temples sat on the river in the Forum Boarium — the cattle market — in ancient Rome.
