Vence

I ended up here by accident after taking the wrong bus to St. Paul de Vence.
Whiled away an hour before the next bus by wandering round the old medieval town (the tourist office has a detailed map with a suggested walking route). It seemed much less touristy than other places that I’d visited on my trip.

I particularly liked Place Godeau in the old town, which is in front of the cathedral. It was very peaceful with just a couple of other people sitting quietly at a cafe table, with a cat curled up in the shade of a tree.

I lived in Vence for 5 years in the 90’s. It’s soooo nice! Don’t miss la Chapelle Matisse and try one of the 600 amazing pizzas at Le pecheur de soleil.
