Lovely in the summer by Luju1982

I live near here so go quite often in the summer. Its got lovely beaches recommend St. Marie de la mer. If you like good seafood this is the place to go – however dont think that its marseille you wont find bouillabaisse it has a lovely icecream shop in the center. Its got many many bird species around the marshes with the most famous being the flamingo, Black bulls and white horses. This place has a lovely calm atmosphere but it does get incredibly hot in july and august. You can horse ride the white horses of the camargue from the’ranches’ around the area and there are many good hotels.

Rice, bulls and mosquitoes by Beaulotus has been away for a long time

That about sums it up ;-).

The food is excellent in this region, the beach is quite good too, with an old town just behind it, but because of the swamps, there’s a mosquito problem though apparently you don’t fall sick with them (no Aedes), just all scratchy.

You can still catch bull fights in the Bullring and Nimes’s really quite charming.
