Growing Up St. Thomas by jsand
I grew up in St. Thomas. As a kid in St T the best thing was jumbo. Yes Jumbo the funny thing is St Thomas is most remembered for killing the largest circus elephant that toured Canada. Early on in St Thomas’ history this elephant came to town and was kill when it was struck by a train.
The town decided to build a monument to the horrific event. To make it the butt of ontarios jokes they placed the elephant so that you see its back side as you enter the city. I use to always say that was metiphorical of St Thomas because coming into town is a very $#!+y experience but leaving gives you someting to look forward to.
Well don’t visit unless you are a train buff or like to visit monuments to dead elephants
