I’ve been to the refuge a few times, and each time was amazing. The birds are fascinating, and the landscape is so refreshing and different from other areas of New Mexico I’ve visited.

The Bosque and kids by thepie

There is an event called the Festival of Cranes and that is a great time to experience all of the noise and motion of the birds. They have areas where you can take a picnic basket and sit back eat lunch and watch the birds. But keep an eye out for all of the other criters like the turtles the coyotees the pheasants.

I took my kids down there with their bikes and they had a blast. My daughter was not too excited about going but once she got there and rode through her first mud puddle dhe loved it.
