Albuquerque International Sunport aka: Albuquerque International Airport, ABQ

Just dropped off a house-guest here this last Sunday.

Easy airport to get in and out of. Though, flights to and from ABQ are usually more $$$, as this airport is small and out of the way.

an emergency landing here on our way to Vegas from Lauderdale. Not fun, the cockpit glass cracked and the pilots put the aircraft down pretty fast, thankfully ABQ was nearby in what otherwise is, well the desert. The whole airport emergency response team was out on the runway waiting for us. We finally switched planes and made it to LAS at about 2 am, which was the equivalent of 5 am Eastern. Not one of my best trips.

I do want to go back to ABQ and northern New Mexico, so hopefully I’ll visit this one again in the near future, under better circumstances than last time hopefully.

If you’re lucky you might see some F16s take off from Kirtland or something, and it’s a small airport, no need to take trams to get from one gate to another and you can’t possibly get lost…

Garduño’s is ok, but it’s basically ‘gringoized’ New Mexican food, and if you want authentic get a burrito from the take out shop, even though it’s pretty expensive.
