Worth visiting!
Movies, movies, movies: I watched films until 4 am, then slept on the streets until 7 and the train station opened. How could I complain?

Edinburgh is the most beautiful city I’ve ever seen.
I’ve fallen in love with it.
Go and enjoy its magic!

I’d really recommend going to the Fringe Festival here, it’s brilliant, but I found it to be alot more expensive than I had anticipated, even though I stayed in a hostel (Caledonian Backpackers, quite good I thought).
Definitley go, but bring a good reserve of cash, just in case! Visit the zoo as well, it’s pretty cool, one of the shows I’d recommend that play there regularly are ‘Topping and Butch’

and will probably make it a regular thing to visit.
There is easily enough events between each of the festivals, film, book and fringe to fill two or three weeks, although I only went of four days.
No to be missed besides all the ticketed performance arts, dance and comedy are the free comedy acts and entertainment and all the street performers, trinket trades, henna tatooest and open air story tellers.

i lived in edinburgh for eleven months and the one month i had to miss was August. :( so of course i heard all sorts of wonderful things about the edinburgh festival (particularly the film festival) and have been dying to get back there ever since.
can’t go this year either, but i might aim for ‘07 or ‘08.

I loved the Festival and all its activities when we lived near Edinburgh. August was always a wonderful month, filled with activities for everyone – we attended lots of children’s programs, and watched street performers (my favourite was the sword-swallower from Australia who rode a really tall unicycle), I went to performances of Baroque music and Broadway-style musicals. There’s something for everyone, and it’s just a wonderful, wonderful time. Somehow, everyone seemed just a bit happier and friendlier in the city during August.
