Taste Of Chicago

The Taste is crowded and expensive, no doubt.

Two tips to help improve the experience.

1. Go on a weekday at lunch. It’s still crowded, but far more manageable. You’ll miss the headline music acts, but that’s not why you’re here is it?

2. Get the taste size portions and don’t expect to eat a giant meal. Two people should be able to grab a fair sample of what’s there for three strips of twelve tickets. (2011 price: $8 per strip) I can’t think of a reason not to get the smaller taste size portions: you’re there to taste a bunch of stuff, no?

This is a neat idea, it’s just pretty expensive and incredibly crowded… you can’t even walk.

…gone to the ToC several times, but not for a few years. Awesome, I just love going to this festival. We live about 80 miles s/e of Chicago in a rural town, and going to the city, surrounded by tens-of-thousands of people wandering around, eating, drinking, listening to music… it’s just such a site. To guess, I’d say I’ve gone to the ’91, ’92, ’94, ’98, ’99 and ’00. We also saw several free concerts while at the festival.
