This is a neat idea, it’s just pretty expensive and incredibly crowded… you can’t even walk.

We've
...gone to the ToC several times, but not for a few years. Awesome, I just love going to this festival. We live about 80 miles s/e of Chicago in a rural town, and going to the city, surrounded by tens-of-thousands of people wandering around, eating, drinking, listening to music… it’s just such a site. To guess, I’d say I’ve gone to the ‘91, ‘92, ‘94, ‘98, ‘99 and ‘00. We also saw several free concerts while at the festival.

A tip I have about this place
Empty stomachs and spare money’s all that’s required for a gastronomic adventure.

The first time I went to this place
I was fairly excited. Once I arrived, however, I realized that this is one of the more grotesque celebrations of consumption (both literal and figurative) that I’ve ever attended. If you don’t like the mall, don’t plan on spending long at the Taste. If you don’t like watching unhealthy people eat expensive samples of dozens of different styles of food from all over the country, don’t go. If, on the other hand, you can manage to ignore all the people around you and you know how to stay cool on hot days in big crowds and you like food a lot, by all means, get your Taste on!
