God I wanna see a movie here so bad! Living in L.A. we’ve got our fair share of brilliant movie houses (Grauman’s Chinese, The Cinerama Dome, Vista, Arclight) but even we don’t got nothin’ like this! I first found out about it whilst watching “Death Proof”, and one of the girls (sorry, can’t remember if it was in the flashback or modern times part) was wearing a t-shirt that said “Alamo Drafthouse” on it. One google later, and I’ve got a new crush. If it’s good enough for QT it’s good enough for ME!

Be sure to get there real early if you want to get a decent seat, especially on a weekend night (an hour early isn’t a bad idea). They show short films and TV shows the whole time before the movie starts, so it’s not like you’re just sitting around.

The Drafthouse is the best place to see a movie. They have amusing themed shows with food to match and lots of great weekday things like having one day a week where parents are encouraged to bring their loud babies. The food is good. Some of my favorites were the splendor in the grass pizza, the veggie burger, the buffalo mozzarella and tomato sandwich, the greek salad, and the caramel apple mocha. Buy a pitcher of sangria while you’re at it. Tickets do sell out fairly often, so buy yours online ahead of time.

3 Alamos in Austin by Daniel Spils

I went to one of them (pictured above). Does anyone know which one this is so I can add the correct address?

A great theater with food and beer served during the film — go there.
