Waimanalo

There were Man-o-war warning and we’d expected to be able to buy our beach towels once we got there but couldn’t find a place to do so, so we didn’t swim. Walked for at least a few miles on the beautiful beach.

It’s a pretty area, but some locals are rather hostile towards tourists. Do NOT leave ANYTHING visible inside your parked car. But it’s beautiful, and several great spots to grab a bite in the area.

It’s been many years since I was there, and hopefully it’s better these days, but it’s where a friend of mine got mugged by some kids. He was okay after a couple stitches, but it wasn’t a great way to start a vacation.
