A tip by sipes23

The Farnsworth House is pretty amazing, if you’re into this sort of thing. The tour and movie should take about two hours.

Here’s the tip: go when the insects aren’t out in force. The Farnsworth House is right on the Fox River. River + summer + midwest = lots of flying and biting insects. Late October is a good time.

i studied this house in detail in one of my drafting classes in college. i’m studying to be an interior designer and i was amazed by the detail of this house, and all of mies van der rohe’s projects for that matter. any architecture/design nerd needs to visit this house and admire the simplicity and beauty of modern architecture.

we visited on a nice sunny spring day, but i hear it is simply amazing after the first snow fall.

It is truly a great house! by kikigirl_01

I went to see it before Lord Byron sold it. It was wonderful to be in. There really wasn’t/isn’t any privacy in it but the materials are wonderful and the view out is great too. Lord Byron had a great collection of outdoor sculptures in the garden. I hope that is still there!

It’s awsome, a dream week-end house. When inside this house, you feel part of nature. All you see are trees, grass, and the Fox River.
