Too Hot
I’ve never been a fan of the Valley…I’m a south bay guy. The valley is just too hot for me…and the 405 Freeway is the wosrt. I do have an anger management office out that way. The people are cool in the Valley. Van Nuys seem to have a large hispanic population.

Why would you want to go there?
One worst time of my life was in Van Nuys. My first husband was a drug user and would walk down to the alley between our apartment building and the one next door and would buy drugs there. Hate that place!

Pop Culture Tidbits
Basically Van Nuys is an uninteresting division of LA with nothing to recommend it. (I lived there for 2 years), but here’s some trivia for you pop culture buffs.
1. The main drag, Van Nuys Blvd, was used for the cruising scenes in American Graffiti.
2. Van Nuys High School is the setting for many films including Fast Times At Ridgemont High and Rock N’ Roll High School. Its alumni includes Paula Abdul, Natalie Wood, and Marilyn Monroe.
3. On Van Nuys Blvds down from Victory Blvd. is (or was) a bar called Corky’s. The bar’s piano player in the early 70s was billed as “Bill Martin the Piano Man” now known as Billy Joel

How this place changed my life
It’s a culturally diverse city with a wide array of businesses, communities, and people. It’s a beautiful place to llive and to be in, just because it’s not a typical small-town America kind of place, and it’s not Los Angeles city-slicker either, it’s just Van Nuys. And for the people who live here, we know it’s not the most well-off, but it is what it is, we’re not rich, we’re not poor, but we’re sure as hell happy. We have a lot to do, and places to go, but the tie we do get to spend here in Van Nuys is precious, and anyone who lives in LA county can tell you, Van Nuys is definitely one of the more interesting places to be in the Valley, a lot happens here. It’s a lively place, and it’s most definitely worth the visit.

I was born here!
Yeah its nothing special in Van Nuys except a few supermarkets. There was a song called “Van Nuys es Very Nice” by Los Abandoned on the soundtrack of “A Day without a Mexican” which was funny.
