Evian-les-Bains

This is where evian water comes from. I passed by this town on the way to Geneva in 1999

Evian-les-Bains is located on Lake Geneva, or as the French prefer to say, Lac Leman. It is the hometown where Evian water is bottled. Did you know that it takes 15 years to drain Lac Leman? It is my belief that the fierce “bises,” and these are not kisses either, but rather strong winds that come off of the lake in the winter are the secret to the naturalness of the mineral water. There is located in town also, the Source Cachat, with is protected by the guardian, Catherine, where one can fill their own bottles straight from the fresh spring. These waters are believed to have healing qualities. It is not unusual to see older generations of about 70-80 years old, filling up their bottles of water for the week at the Source. I truly believe Evian will mark a place in your heart, as home, as it has mine, while restore rejuvenation to those who have grown weary from the mundane tasks of routine.
