Rangitoto Island

I highly recommend anyone who wants to sweat a little (who has at least walking shoes with some degree of solid soles) to take the ferry out to Rangitoto Island and summit it. You’re rewarded with some of the most beautiful panoramic views of a large city you’ll ever see in the world.

One of the things I’m looking most forward to in my visit to Auckland is taking a ferry over to Rangitoto Island to walk up to the summit of the small volcano that resides there. I have no idea what to expect, except that my camera will probably be very happy that day.

Apparently it’s just 10 kilometers northeast of the city center yet barely anyone in the city goes there.
