Authentic, delicious
I went with a Japanese friend. He said the food is extremely authentic and compares well to a good restaurant in Japan.

The last time I went to this place
The chawanmushi soup was incredible. Order it. Note: It takes some time to prepare. I’ve been told that is traditional to end a Japanese meal with soup (contrary to the common practice of starting with miso soup in America), so go ahead and order the chuwanmushi when you order your sushi/sashimi (of course) and just when you’ve forgotten about it, revelling in sashimi heaven, the waiter will appear with the steaming hot pot to cap off your meal.

The first time I went to this place
It was for the 25 for $25 prixe fixe dinner in March. We stepped in through the door and Nishino-san was there to greet us and brought us to our table. To have the master chef himself usher you is such an honour! He was courteous and modest, provided us with the menu, and sauntered away to welcome other patrons. The wait staff was attentive and not the least bit obsequious. The tara was the best fish I’ve had. It makes me drool just to think about it. They have these cute little chopstick stone rests. It didn’t take long before the place was packed. Definitely worth the price and coming back to.

The specials are amazing
This fantastic sushi restaurant has a great menu, but the people who used to take me to dinner here all the time always ordered the specials. Which were always something very “special”, and delicious. I love the staff and owners here. Good stuff!
