The Land of 12 Foot Davis by David Soul

The town is located in northwestern Alberta along the banks of the Peace River Valley, near the confluences of the Peace, Smoky and Heart Rivers. The Peace River Valley is one of the most majestic sites in northwestern Alberta.

One of the most famous pioneers of the region Henry Fuller Davis was commonly called “Twelve Foot Davis”, due to his twelve foot land claim during the Cariboo Country gold rush in British Columbia which netted Davis almost $30,000.00 worth of gold. He took these profits and staked it all on a trading post close to where the Town of Peace River stands today.
