Enumclaw

I grew up in this place. As a child the small town mentality became irritating, but as an adult I crave a town where people will smile as you pass them on the street, and say hello to you when you enter a store.

I spent alot of time in Enumclaw as a child, my grandma lived in Black Diamond, so this was our going to town. There used to be the most amazing ‘everything’ store, and each weekend we stayed with her, we were allowed to pick out one toy, or item as a treat. Jayhawks had it all, and then some! I have some great memories of the people, the town, and of course my grandma. Ahhhhh, youth, everyplace is a place to have fun…

I am not sure Enumclaw is a destination place, but I pass through here frequently on my way to the national forest of 410. A really fantastic lady has recently opened a little wine store with wine tastings on the weekends.

A really backwards town but every summer they have the Enumclaw Highland Games (my family is hardcore on Scottish heritage) and they are the biggest games around the Pacific Northwest. I highly recommend going to the games and the King County Fair, both located at the fair grounds.
