Night at Ten Thousand Waves

I went after dark but before clothing was required at the communal hot pool.

I was pleased to find that it was on top of a roof and open to the night sky, very private and very dark. I was able to comfortably slip out of my cotton kimono and step into the hot water without feeling overly exposed. The view of the stars was fabulous!

And my massage therapist was excellent.

If I return to Santa Fe, I will return to this spa.

A tip I have about this place

If you have the option, I would go in the winter. The temps are kept a little warmer in the baths during the winter time.

I plan to return, and hope to be able to go during the winter.

So nice to reserve a private tub in the early AM. Watch the clouds burn off of the mountains.

A review of this place

The communal areas are quite nice. They have a hot tub, wet/dry sauna, and cold plunge. All for $15 for an unlimited amount of time. Cheaper for New Mexico residents. There were a lot of nekkid guys there, so if nekkidness bothers you, you may be out of luck (or you can choose one of their other private options). There is a separate communal women’s area, though, so they can escape nekkid guys at least if they wish (nekkid-fearing guys are still out of luck). I did wish they had separate wet and dry saunas as I prefer hitting them individually, but there probably would be too much duplication of services for them.

I had heard that the spa treatments and rooms are very very nice, but I just ponied up the $15 and relaxed in the communal area.

I am surprised that it is listed in Patricia Schultz’s 1000 Places list, because while the place is very cool, aren’t there better places, say, in Japan? Maybe not.
