5,344' of near death in 1979 by Stephen Barr

I co-lead a student group from OAU from Monroe Community College attempting to reach the summit at Thanksgiving 1979 and a storm blew in with less than 1,000 feet below the summit and some of the expedition were wet, tired, hyporthermic and we spent the night up there 4 to 2 man tents and then turned back the next morning without a summit party…..with us was Rich Westerberg (RIP), Dave Miller, Mike Nix, Sal Scarantino, Mary Beery….et al
