Alpena

So this place is not bad as places go, there’s some nice people, some bars, some churches, just a normal small american town. The nature’s nice, but you should never go swimming in the city, the sand has some disgusting goo. There’s a couple of factories in the city as well, and those who live on the north side have to live with an all pervasive odor as well as higher than legal mercury levels until they upgrade their equipment.

While it could be worse, there’s so much more to do in other places. The people can be rather conservative as well, but usually politely guard their views to themselves, resulting in even less fun.

Alpena fun city? Not really. Alpena cool city? Only officially. Looking for a place to hang out and watch TV? This is the city for you.

Alpena will always be home as long as my parents are still there. That’s why I call it home.. Otherwise Alpena is a quiet small port city with beautiful lakes in the area. Growing up right on Lake Hurron, (one of five great lakes) was an awsome experience with so many water activities. In the winter Alpena is a wonderland of snow. Plenty of skiing and ice skating on a daily basis. Winters however are long and very cold, but the summers in Alpena make up for it. I try to get back home to visit at least once a year now.. Last time there was Christmas 2005.

During the summer Alpena can be pretty nice. Its one of those typical friendly ports. It really needs a bigger mall lol but we do have an Underwater Preserve because we have over 300 shipwrecks! I’ve even gone snorkling out to see them. Theres other stuff to do but yeah…I cant remember. If you dont like small towns I dont think you’d like it here.
