Sailed from Skagway, AK to Prince Rupert, BC and camped out in the solarium. Amazing journey! Loved sleeping in the solarium.

Cruising Cheap!
Ever want to take a cruise? When we PCSed up to Fairbanks we took the ferry up. Even though we got a little seasick the first day we loved the view. The cabin we where in was small but comfortable for sleeping. There was only a snack shack conccession when we went back in 1994. If you love just watching scenery, wildlife, and the water you will love it. But remember you drive your vehical in the base of the ship or you walk on so this is basically a transport between continental and Alaska America. There is an observation room that has theater style chair for sleeping also, so a cabin is optional. You can go out on deck to get a in the middle of it all kind of feeling but we went in late October BRRRRR!! Do wear layers and be prepared for the weather. It can be extreme but at the same time beautiful. Enjoy!!

So much fun and so beautiful
We took a ferry ride from Juneau to Haines on our trip to Alaska five years ago, and it was one of my favorite parts of our whole trip. The beauty of the hills on either side of the sound, shrouded in clouds, the orca we saw swimming in the water, the lonely little lighthouses perched on crusty little islands stamped into the waterways… oh wow.
