Eagle Pass

If you like to play poker, its worth a drive. The poker here is real loose. Otherwise, forget it. The bad blackjack game they had has been discontinued. The rest of the games in the casino are a rip-off, and there is nothing else to do in this city, at all.

You can hop across the border to Piedras Negras, but I haven’t been, so I don’t know what it has to offer.

For dining, the locals recommend Charcoal Grill, in the mall. The first time I went, I thought it was OK, but not great. My second time there, I got a steak, which was excellent. There’s like an outdoor-indoor kinda theme to the place (picnic tables on astroturf).

Guva’s Steak & Grill is a Tex-Mex place by the Super 8 that is pretty damn good, in my opinion. The steak here is about as good as Charcoal Grill’s. The place has kind of an Austin feel to it.

Outside of that, the best places to eat are Fuddrucker’s and Appleby’s. Appleby’s is open pretty late, if you need to eat late after leaving the casino.

The food at the casino really sucks. I highly recommend taking a break when you get hungry and heading to one of the places above.
