Why I want to go to this place
I really like waterfalls. Ever since I visited Plitvice National Park I’ve been very interested in waterfalls. I’ve since visited Niagara Falls.
Iguazu is another one of the world’s great waterfalls. I’d love to visit there someday.

A tip I have about this place
Don’t Tour the Parks with a Tour Group
While tour packages are more economically for your flight/hotel whatever, it is better to ditch the group before you go to the falls.
There are two national parks that give you spectacular views of Iguazu Falls, the Brazilian park and the Argentinean park.
Both parks are very easily self-navigated. Pick up a map from the front and just walk. Going with the group waste a lot of time, and there is no way you can see everything when you are being forced to wait 20 minutes at each lookout point. Also, it takes longer to get a good picture at the best spots b/c so many people are in the way.
Tour groups come and go, so if you are by yourself and all of a sudden feel overwhelmed by the number of people, just wait, they’ll go. There were several times I was at the perfect spot and trying to take a variety of pictures, when all of a sudden there were a million people swarming around me and my camera like flies. At first I would just leave, then I learned to just wait, there is always a break in the crowd.
Going to the Argentinean park? I have a route for you to take to avoid the crowd. Start at the Superior Circuit, then the lower circuit, take the adventure tour, then the train to Devil’s Throat, end the day at the Macuco Trail. —This is the best way to avoid the tour groups.
Another tip—bring a poncho, zip locks for valuable and an underwater camera for those up close moments with the falls.

Why I recommend this place to visitors
Not just the power and beauty of the falls, but the wildlife around. Monster ants, a toucan, and amazingly colourful butterflies stick in the memory for me.
We paid I-can’t-remember-how-much-but-I-don’t-think-it-was-a-lot to do a little boat ride near to some of the falls. That was worth it.

A review of this place: dumb stares
I have to reluctantly admit that the argentinian side is better, but that you really have to see both (I saw the Cidade del este in Paraguay but do they actually have any of the falls?
So much falling water, it just stops you still in your tracks as you stare dumbly at it. And the good thing about Iguazu is that it’s surrounded by nature rather than resorts.
