Why I recommend this place to locals  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

There are a lot of great exhibits that are traveling exhibits. Classes, ect. It’s just a great place, and I hear they’re opening up new exhibits soon.

I live in Indiana, and I’ve been going here since I was born. Recently it’s been undergoing a lot of renovations, so beware. Not all the exhibits are open yet.

A review of this place: A favorite Indy place  — 2 years ago

I grew up outside of Indianapolis, and remember visiting the Art Museum when I was still in grade school. The collection is extensive with some great portraits and Georgia O’Keefe jimson weed as well as medieval religious art like the freaky Bosch-like (or maybe it is Bosch…) “Harrowing of Hell”, which was my brother’s favorite piece – full of flayed and tortured individuals and gaping mouthed demons.

The grounds are also beautiful. They were designed by a famous landscaper, who also designed Central Park in New York City.
