Kentucky Lake

My family has gone to KY Lake for reunions for over a decade. It’s beautiful and relaxing, and close enough to Nashville or Memphis for an exciting day trip. I especially recommend WHISPERING OAKS resort for a great family vacation.

There’s an excellent sandy beach on the east side of the river about a half-hour down from the dam. You can only reach it by boat, but I remember loving it as a kid…

The bottom near the beach is covered in big rocks—painful to your feet. If you want to play in the water, go to Lake Barkely instead, where there is sand on the bottom.
