Don't know the exact story
I’ve heard many versions but I don’t know which is the “correct” version of the history behind the temple. The version I know best is that he built the entire temple out of stone by himself in three nights. Who knows the real version and is able to verify it?

halebeedu - Architectural beauty
This is the most favorite place on the face of the earth for me. I love sitting there for a long time and day dreaming. I do not have the count how many times I been there. Halebeedu (search in net for: halebeedu, halebeed, halebid or dwarasamudra) is one of the very skilled work I have seen.
shadow without any botheration. And this is one of the photos I
shot when I had the camera.
I usually go there with no luggage, no camera and no cell
phone, so that I can sleep on the natural lawn under the treeThere are many reasons why I go there. One is its uniqueness, it is built in Hoysala style – very different from any other south Indian temples (tamilnadu is kingdom of temples; most of all other state temples are built in the same of architectural style, except few historical ones). Second is it is very calm – only Pease lovers come here, god lovers go to the other similar temple nearby belur. And third reason is the surrounding, it’s green.
i have written more, and also uploaded a photo here
