Best croissants in town
Bar none. I’d given up hope on finding pastry this good in Seattle. Great quiches, too.

I'm a pastry junkie..
so whenever I hear of a new place for pastries, I make it a point to sample their wares! Cafe Besalu was one of 3 destinations for me yesterday. After reading about the ginger bisuits here and the writeup in the Seattle magazine, I was on a mission! I must say the tea they serve is one I hadn’t tried & was pleasantly surprised. It’s made by a company in Aspen Co.- twoleavesandabud.com
I had the Organic Darjeeling and it was delightful!
The foam on my husband’s cappacino was like a mile-high merangue! Impressive! He enjoyed bitefuls of the foam with a spoon after polishing off his pain au chocolat! He thought the chocolate was as good as Bakery Nouveau’s in West Seattle, but thoght the flaky dough a bit too moist & doughy. This is a fine point I know, but Bakery Nouveau is spot on with their dough!
As for the ginger biscuts, the flavor was delish, but the crumb was too soft and cake like for me. Sort of like a box mix. But I suffered and managed to eat the whole thing * ;0 !*
Worth trying Cafe Besalu if you’re in the area, but not a destination.

Ginger Biscuits..
Cafe Besalu is the type of cafe I dream of opening one day. It is small, but it pumps out some of the best pastries in Seattle. I personally love the ginger biscuits and have been trying to recreate them myself, since I am not in Seattle at the moment, but I have yet to perfect that perfect flaky melt in your mouth texture..I guess I will have to wait until I return to experience it again.
