I was born in Mandeville and spent some time there when I was in high school. The nice thing about this town is that it’s really temperate compared to the rest of Jamaica, especially in the summer. The drive up from either side is nice. I grew up near the base of the mountain on the east side (Toll Gate, Clarendon). As you wind up the mountain, you’ll be surrounded by lush forest and every few miles there are fruit and vegetable stands with fresh produce. The town itself has some nice older buildings, but the main areas aren’t that much to look at. A better idea is to get away from the town center a little bit and explore the interesting mountainside homes. (not, I hope you realize, from the insides)
