Cleveland Heights

Thanks everyone for such detailed and diverse responses.

An Akronite recently asked me if I was worried about experiencing a “death of culture” moving from a city like Seattle to Cleveland. I honest don’t really feel that, though the Cleveland is quite different from Seattle.

Furthermore, your comments and recommendations all seem to point to strong instances of opportunities to gather, celebrate outside, find good food, good music, and child-friendly places.

I’ll be working in University Circle starting a new private high school (http://www.montessorihighschool.org) and will spend a good deal of time down in that area. So it is another place I need to learn more about.

For any interested, the high school is going to be partnering with several University Circle institutions including The Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Cleveland Botanical Garden, and the Western Reserve Historical Society. Watch for some new connections in the UC in the coming years!

Enough of the plug. What about action in the CH/UH area? I posted in the CH action group and in the CH parents group. I’m just wondering what are some of the local issues. I’d like to be involved in neighborhood support and activity. Check out those posts and perhaps those groups can get going if there is interest.

CH seems to be a charming place to live, but what are some things that chafe the residents (you?)?

What do the similar areas around CH have that CH should have?

What do you really like about CH? What are the best things about living here?

My wife, two young children, and I just moved to CH.

What do we need to know? Where are some good places to go?

Is there a good park for the children? Where is a close outdoor wading pool?
