Amana Colonies

German/Dutch food everywhere… and LOTS of it, great bakeries too. It’s worth a day just to see.

This place is not a destination-type-spot, but it’s an okay place to spend a half-day. A brewery there has the best root beer I have ever tasted.

Go on artist open studios weekend, and spend a day or two not just in the main touristy part of Amana, but all around the seven colonies!

Food / Beer / Culture—this is one of my favorite tourist destinations in Iowa.
