Marathon Key

Ok, I’m obviously homesick today. sigh I love Canada, but it’s so far from home! Any other Marathoners out there?

You will not be disappointed if you eat at Keys Fisheries. The lobster bisque, lobster ruben, all you can eat golden crab, butterfly shrimp, and smoked fish dip are all amazing. The beer is always cold. And I’ve never waited longer than 15 minutes for my food. :)

I may be partial, since I was raised there…but I love Marathon. I loved growing up there, I came back to get married there, and I love visiting there. It’s not as weird or extravagant as Key West. It’s not as messy or noisy as Miami. The beaches aren’t pristine and fake. It’s just a little town in paradise where the people are very nice to you if you’re nice to them. If you happen to be passing through Marathon on your way to KW or Miami, you must eat at Keys Fisheries. It’s a fish house that opened up a restaurant for extra business and it’s amazing. Try their all you can eat golden crab clusters and you’ll be in heaven. And if you are lucky enough to be staying in Marathon for a night or two, you should take a walk along the old 7 Mile Bridge (yes, the one that was “blown up” in True Lies) right before sunset and enjoy the colors. Oh, and if you see my mom, give her a hug for me. :)

i live here right now…so far it isn’t blowing me out of the water.

none of the beaches are very nice. lots of things are over priced. there’s tons of construction and development going on that looks like it’s been in the works for years with little progress.

if you’re going to the keys… skip this place, just go to key west.

Great place to stay. Loved it here.
