Ybor City

I don’t really like Ybor at night but in the afternoon it is great since they have lots of fun shops like a two story Urban Outfitters, Fresh Mouth resturant with great shakes and awesome improv. I love the Movieco.

In response to a previous post – just wanted to clarify that Gasparilla is actually in Feb. Guavaween is in October. Both are crazy festivals with a Mardi Gras feel. Gasparilla has events that go on for about 4 weeks or so – it’s a great time to visit Tampa!

Ybor City is one of my favorite places in all of the Tampa Bay area.

My family shops and dines in Ybor weekly.

Our favorite restaurants are The Laughing Cat, Berninis, Carmines, La Creperia, and Acropolis. We also like Ybor Brewing Co. and Tampa Bay Brewing Co.

There are often festivals and live entertainment in and around Ybor. We see a movie at Centro Ybor at least once a month. It is our favorite local movie theater. It’s been quite a while since I have enjoyed the fun of bar hopping in Ybor. Most of the bars I once patronized are no longer in business.

However, “back in the day”, I did quite a bit of bar hopping around Ybor.

When I was in college in St. Pete, we used to go to Ybor to hang out at the clubs… with a fake ID I could drink everywhere and it was one big party. Be sure to check out the Gasparilla Parade around Halloween!
