A tip I have about this place
While asking for directions to the Mission, the clerk at the tourist info center down by the beach recommended that we check out the courthouse in Santa Barbara. He said that it is prettier than the mission any day. We went to both the courthouse and the mission. The courthouse was spectacular. I loved the old colonial spanish feel indoors. I felt like I was in a Mexican novela. There are some really nice murals and mosaic works inside as well. I couldn’t believe it was an actual working courthouse. If you are going to the mission, make sure that you stop by the courthouse, too. Oh, and on the way to the mission, there is this park. Park and walk around. They have this pond with a bunch of turtles in it. It’s a fun place for kids. One more thing: the mission charges admission for entry.

Why I recommend this place to visitors
Truly awesome statues of St. Francis and Claire, Jesus and Mary Magdalene in the chapel. Interesting historical displays. Gorgeous garden/courtyard. Nice atmosphere. Just lovely.

I wish there was an inbetween
This is worth visiting and not worth visiting all at once. If you want to kill a half hour, it’s okay. It’s only $4 (mostly just a little donation) and the mission is just okay. The favorite parts for me were the cemetery and the original laundry area from 1805.
