Cannery Row

Monterey is a charming little coastal town, and definitely a mecca for John Steinbeck fans! Everywhere you go around Cannery Row you’ll see the real places that inspired the author, and it’s so fun to put those pieces together if you’ve read a few of his books. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is also one of the best I’ve ever been to.

Many small stores, a nightclub, the Aquarium, bars, restaurants, and a miniature golf course. The average tourist could spend about a full day here. It’s a fun place but there’s one particular bar that attracts the biker crowd so I would stay away from that one.

Cannery Row is located along a bike trail I strongly recommend visitors walk/ride on. It starts from Robert’s lake (near Embassy Suites in Seaside) and goes as far as the Asilomar past Lover’s Point.

Had a great afternoon exploring Cannery Row and eating at the Fish Hopper. Great clam chowder and crab cake and shrimp!
