Jupiter Hotel

While we were in Portland to catch Camper Van Beethoven’s New Year’s Eve show, a friend and I decided to stay at the Jupiter Hotel. We checked into the room to discover complimentary champagne, party hats, noisemakers, Hershey’s kisses, fancy bottled water, and condoms. In other words, they didn’t just hope that we had a good time, they demanded it. They also provided every guest with chalk to use on either side of their textured room doors. And, while a short survey of our neighbors suggests we were unique in this regard (so it probably wasn’t the hotel’s doing) someone made a point of having a fresh handful of Cheerios floating in our toilet when we arrived. Nobody’s ever done that for me before.

UPDATE: Some eight months after staying there, I started to receive spam at the unique e-mail address I used to register my room at the Jupiter. Do not give your e-mail to the Jupiter or they will sell it to spammers.
