How this place changed my life  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

I was lucky enough to live in TO for a year, and i volenteered for TIFF. I have never had so much synergetic fun!

No, that’s not true, but it’s in my top 10!

A rumor about this place  — 1 year ago

This year, I am noticing that the press conferences are not being aired on the Rogers Local channel. Is this because Bell is sponsoring the film festival, and this is a Bell and Rogers feud?

More than just stars  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

You might, perhaps, see someone on the street whose name graces more than a few magazine covers every month. Or you might see a movie that changes your life, which is what happened to me. If you are ever fortunate enough to see ‘All the Invisible Children,’ let me definitely say you will never think about exploitation of children the same way; nor, perhaps war, journalism, or even Spike Lee.

I also saw ‘Drawing Restraint 9’ here last year, which was bizarre and visceral and difficult and compelling, and the director, New York artist Matthew Barney, actually came out to talk about it beforehand. At ‘Manderlay,’ Lars Von Trier’s last movie, we got to see the lead actress come out up front, and… hmm, I saw one more for sure but I can’t remember which. Spectacular festival, though. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

I'm Up For It.  — 2 years ago

I’ve done the VIFF and other film festivals. Hell, I’ve even done Fringe Festivals in 3 different provinces, so I’m not stranger to festivals. I’m looking forward to visiting someday .

A bit rough for first time audience members  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

TIFF can be pretty rough figuring out at first with all of the advanced ticketing and lots and lots of standing in line. If you’re serious about seeing some great films (and some that won’t match your taste) it’s worth the effort.
