Glaciar Perito Moreno

it was cool. but then later i went to the Glacier Grey, and saw it as i came up and over John Gardner pass.. it was just as amazing, but watching the ice fall off is rad, but also it costs a lot of money for just watching ice fall off…

Do the mini-trekking. Period. Hands down. It is so awesome. you get to walk on the glacier—no not the part you see in the picture, that’s the face, and it breaks off… which is really cool to watch, but still pics don’t do the falling masses of ice justice, so get it on video and don’t waste your still shots trying to get the falling ice, unless maybe if you got a really good zoom.

I did the short mini-trekking, I want to go back and do the longer one, unfortunately, it’ll be awhile before I can go back to Argentina. I need to save. This place though is gorgeous.

When I went the dandelions were all bright and yellow, it’s got the world’s southernmost forest all around it, and in the forest and where you get off the bus to go on the pasarelas there’s dandelions which were so pretty.

Oh, and dress in layers, because in some places it can be warm enough for short sleeves and in some places (like on the boat) it’s really cold.

Absolutely stunning and completely accessible. The glacier creaks and groans and drops massive ice bergs into the lake with massive crashes.

Perito Moreno Glaciar is one of the most important natural assets of Argentina. In my opinion, one of the top 3 to visit in Argentina. The other 2 are: Iguazu Falls and the approaching the whales by boat in Peninsula Valdez.

You can see the glaciar from the front side and see how ice masses with the size of a 15 floors building crack appart and fall down in the lake.

One of the few balanced or slightly growing glaciers in the world. Impressive to see, and enjoy ice breakups.

To reach it you can take a bus from El Calafate (2 hours from it). The government has done a good job at providing a viewing platform, and there is a company that will let you walk on top of it with cramp-ons, for a fee.

A magnificent natural wonder, more beautifull than the Niagara Falls.
