Mama's Mexican Kitchen

I had heard people rant and rave about this place since I moved to Seattle. My ex even said he went a few times and he LOVED it. I went a few months ago, they put us in the Elvis room. Interesting decor for the whole place. But our food took forever, and it wasn’t even busy when we went. It was a bit below average as Mexican food goes [and coming from Texas, I think I am a good judge in what is and isn’t good TexMex and Mexican food]. They kept forgetting us. My friend had to hunt them down to get a refill for his drink! And when it came time to leave, no check in site and no one to give us something to take home the leftovers. I had to go grab the to-go stuff myself. And we could’ve easily walked out without paying, but we are better than that and waited around for 15 minutes at the register while they hunted down our waitress so we could pay. I am not impressed. If it had been busy there, no big deal, but the place wasn’t that busy. My husband has even been there a few times in the past years and wasn’t impressed either. The decor is interesting, but they need to concentrate more on the cumstomer and the food than the decor.

The best mexican food in Seattle. I love the Syndrome aka beans and cheese.

I come to Mama’s for the fantastic free salsa, wonderfully gooey chicken, cheese, and onion enchillada, and cheap happy hour margaritas. They have a great deck in the summertime and a colorful wacky interior full of interesting things to look at (on the walls and seated at the tables). I’ve started many a Belltown evening here!
